Project Story

Algeria, one of North Africa's strong pasta consumption markets, has a deep-rooted consumption culture based on durum wheat semolina. Two different producers aiming to meet this demand with local production chose Talia Makina for their short-cut pasta lines.

In both projects, the limited floor space in the customers' production buildings did not allow a standard line layout. Talia Makina engineers developed space-specific compact line designs, re-dimensioning the press, pre-dryer and multi-tier dryer layout to fit the existing buildings. Both installations were completed without sacrificing capacity, fully matching the customers' available space.

The lines were delivered as a fully integrated short-cut process consisting of a vacuum extrusion press, rotary-blade cutting system, shaker pre-dryer and multi-tier dryer. Running on an AISI 304 food-grade stainless steel body with Siemens PLC automation and Schneider components in the electrical panels, the lines can produce penne, elbow and fusilli as well as orzo and filini on the same line via circular die changes.

A 300 kg/h line offers a theoretical output potential of 7.2 tonnes per day in continuous 24-hour operation. With turnkey installations in 18 countries since 2007, Talia Makina supports regional producers in switching to local production.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a pasta production line installation in Algeria carried out?

Project planning, line design, manufacturing, shipment, on-site installation, commissioning and operator training are handled end to end on a turnkey basis. This full scope was applied in both projects in Algeria.

Which pasta shapes are produced on the lines in Algeria?

Penne, elbow, fusilli, orzo and filini are produced. With circular die changes, more than 30 short-cut shapes can be produced on the same line.

How much does a 300 kg/h line produce per day?

In continuous 24-hour operation it has a theoretical output potential of 7.2 tonnes per day; with maintenance stops included, more than 2,000 tonnes per year can be targeted.

How can I get a quotation for a similar line?

You can clarify your capacity needs with our Investment Guide and Capacity Calculator, then reach us via our technical quotation form. Our team works with you on line layout and budget planning.

Can a pasta production line be installed in a factory with limited space?

Yes. In both Algeria projects the limited space in the customers' buildings did not allow a standard layout; space-specific compact line designs were developed and both installations were completed without sacrificing capacity. In every project the layout plan is prepared according to the customer's existing building.

Which capacity options are available besides 300 kg/h?

Our short-cut pasta lines can be installed at capacities from 300 kg/h up to 6,000 kg/h. In both Algeria projects 300 kg/h was chosen; you can determine the right capacity with our Investment Guide and Capacity Calculator.

Can both orzo and penne be produced on the same line?

Yes. Thanks to circular die changes, shapes such as penne, elbow and fusilli as well as orzo and filini can be produced on the same short-cut line. Both lines in Algeria operate this way.

What is the warranty and after-sales support scope?

All lines are delivered with a 24-month standard warranty. The turnkey scope includes commissioning, operator training, spare parts supply and after-sales technical support. Maintenance planning and service needs are followed up by the Talia Makina technical team.

Is remote technical support available?

Yes. The Siemens PLC based automation system supports remote connection; with authorized access, fault diagnosis, parameter optimization and software updates can be performed remotely, and on-site service is planned when needed.
