Let's start with the most frequently asked question. The cost of a pasta line varies widely depending on its capacity, product group, delivery scope and site conditions. Even two projects with the same capacity can reach very different budgets: one is a lean line installed in an existing building, the other a complete plant with its silos and packaging system.
That is why, instead of quoting a number at the first meeting, we prefer to talk through a few things first: which products will you make, what is your annual target, is your building ready, which energy sources are available? The price becomes clear at the end of the production scenario we build together — and at that point, the figure you receive is a commitment, not an estimate.

When the offers are in front of you, we recommend looking at one more question alongside the purchase price: how much cost will this line add to every kilogram it produces over the years?
Four items determine this calculation:
A line that looks affordable on day one can end up costing more overall if it is weak in these four areas. Whichever manufacturer you work with, asking these four questions when comparing offers is the most reliable route to a sound decision.

Most of the difference between two quotations is not margin. It is scope. Take both offers and mark each item below as inside or outside the price:
Every item on that list is inside the supply scope on our lines. On a cheaper offer, several of them usually are not.
That matters for more than the budget. Each item you have to source separately arrives on a different schedule, from a different supplier, and when it does not integrate with the rest of the line, there is no single party responsible for making it work. A boiler bought locally to save money is a common reason a plant starts production months late.
These are the buyer's scope in almost every contract, including ours. They are not hidden — they are simply not part of what a machinery supplier sells, and they are the most common reason a project budget is wrong.

The purchase price is paid once. These are paid every year.
Energy
Drying is the energy-intensive stage. A 1,000 kg/h line runs at approximately 150 kW average electrical load, with a thermal requirement of around 275,000 kcal/h in normal operation. Over a decade, a difference in drying efficiency outweighs a difference in purchase price.
Waste
Ask for waste per tonne, for each product type, in writing — and for long-cut, ask about both trim points rather than one. On our lines short-cut production generates no process waste. Long-cut trims twice: the hanging ends when the strands are laid over the sticks, which go straight back to the mixing tank, and 2–3 cm at the final trimming after drying depending on pack length, which can optionally be routed back into the raw material feed. Vague answers here usually mean the number is not good.
Downtime
Unplanned stops cost more than any line item in the quotation. Ask what preventive maintenance support the control system provides, and how quickly a technician can connect remotely.
Operator dependency
A line that only runs well when one particular person is on shift is an unpriced risk. Recipe management and automatic parameter changeover between formats are what remove it.
Die life
Dies are consumables. Replaceable Teflon inserts extend service life; systems that track die operating hours let you plan replacement instead of discovering it through a quality complaint.
A capacity figure means nothing without the conditions attached to it. In a properly written quotation you should find:

If those conditions are missing, the capacity figure is marketing rather than a commitment. If they are present, you can compare two offers meaningfully — and you also know what your own mill has to deliver for the guarantee to hold.
