Madagascar, the island nation of the Indian Ocean, is one of the markets where local production of staple foods is gaining importance with a growing population. Talia Makina's reference here is a capacity-expansion investment by a local investor already in production.
The producer had been using Italian lines in pasta production. When it decided to raise its capacity, it chose Talia Makina: the 1,000 kg/h short-cut line commissioned in 2020 joined production alongside the existing European-made lines. The pattern that repeats across our references from Türkiye to Bangladesh played out in Madagascar as well: producers running European lines choose Talia Makina for their growth investments.
In an installation on an island nation, logistics planning is the most critical link of the project. Overseas shipment of the equipment, site installation and commissioning were completed on the planned schedule; the line went into production together with operator training.
What truly makes the difference in island geography is after-sales support. Although the line's warranty period has ended, support to the producer continues uninterrupted; any spare part need is resolved quickly by air cargo, keeping production downtime to a minimum. Reaching a customer across the ocean at this speed shows the long-term value of supplier selection.
The line runs with an AISI 304 food-grade stainless steel body; the automation uses Siemens PLC with Yaskawa components. It produces a wide range of shapes led by penne cut, penne, fusilli, elbow, noodles and orzo.
The installed capacity is 1,000 kg/h — theoretically up to 24 tonnes per day in 24-hour continuous operation. With turnkey installations in 18 countries since 2007 — from Cameroon to Madagascar — Talia Makina supports African producers on their journey to local production.

What automation does the line use?
The line runs on Siemens PLC-based automation with Yaskawa components. Automatic process and drying control is standard; drying parameters are adjusted to the product and climate conditions.
What do the warranty and after-sales support cover?
All lines are delivered with a 24-month standard warranty. In the Madagascar project, support continues uninterrupted although the warranty period has ended; maintenance planning, remote support and spare parts delivery by air cargo are handled by the Talia Makina technical team.
Is remote technical support available?
Yes. The Siemens PLC-based automation system supports remote connection; with authorised access, fault diagnosis, parameter optimisation and software updates can be done remotely. For customers on island nations, remote support significantly reduces the need for on-site service.
